Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) in collaboration with Higher Education Institutions Sports Council (MASUM, MSP, MASKOM and MASISWA) take the initiative to organize SUKIPT since 2012.

SUKIPT is organized biennially with the alternate of Malaysia Education Institutes Sports Carnival (SIPMA) every other year. To further expand SUKIPT, the organizer invites international sportsmen from South East Asia countries and add on a few categories for special needs athletes for the fourth edition of its organization.

SUKIPT is one of the platform for MoHE to integratedly develop sports at Higher Education Institutions, National and International levels.
